After suffering from many a trial and tribulation, abandon and pillaging, the Buisson de May Château which was built in the 18th century was purchased by the Paris French Allocations Office (Caisse d’Allocations Familiales) in 1936 to be used along with its woodland as a holiday colony. The site was later to shelter a British military hospital and was apparently a hiding place for Resistants. There is much evidence in the parkland’s lay-out of the gardening methods used in particular during Louis XVIth’s era. A platform surrounded by simple walls may be observed with a long view extending well beyond the semi-circle.
