Boarding the train at Pacy-sur-Eure for an afternoon’s ride was a most original way for us to discover the Eure Valley, the Normandy landscapes and to re-live a forgotten era on a journey that took us along the former Rouen-Orleans railway line..
It’s 11.30 on a Sunday morning and the station master has just asked us to board for a 31/2- hour train journey. Inside the period carriage we were greeted by the crew who served us an aperitif. We then luncheoned during the journey as the landscapes of the Eure Valley passed before our eyes.
The story of this journey which takes you back in time into an atmposhere of by-gone days in search of lost memories is told almost every Sunday by the Eure Valley Railway Company
This is an ideal activity which allows you time to discover the Portes de l’Eure area in a different, more tranquil way. In the space of 3 hours you will discover the area’s scenery and go past several towns and villages. To let you into a secret, the train stops somewhere special along the way for dessert!
A meal on board costs 47 Euros per person (22 € for children). The Eure Valley Railway schedules different events throughout the year. Feel free to visit their web site for further information regarding the theme-rides and dates.
