Although lots of us like the idea of sleeping under the stars, some of us prefer to let others go first when it means spending the night in a tent in the middle of a field!
In order to combine our desire for a change of scenery with a minimum amount of confort, we decided to test the POD, a little Robinson Crusoe-style wooden cabin.
But just what is a POD?
The POD is a new type of accommodation which has never existed up until now but which is becoming more and more popular in France. It’s a plain little wood cabin which is ideal if you’re looking for a couple of nights stay in a calm place with a change of scenery.
But what joy! For us who live in a large town it’s a pleasure to spend a night in the open countryside and to re-live simple sensations even if only for a week-end.
Do not be surprised if you are woken early in the morning by the sounds of nature or by the sunlight crossing the curtains. It’s a sweet way in to spending a pleasant day visiting the Portes de l’Eure area..
To start your visit here, we strongly recommend that you pass through the village of Saint-Marcel in order to become quickly familiar with the beautiful Normandy landscapes!
You can spend a night in a POD in Saint-Marcel’s village campsite, Les Fosses Rouges. The campsite has 3 PODS which are situated at a distance away from the rest of the site.
The accommodation costs 30 euros for two persons + 2.50 € per person for the hire of sheets.
The Les Fosses Rouges campsite is open from 1st March to the 31st October.
